The Newborn Care Training Academy course instructs and educates individuals on the care of a newborn (birth-3 months). Care techniques cover the profession of a newborn care specialist, basic newborn care practices, feeding, nutrition, breastfeeding, managing multiples, special consideration for premature infants, sleep and sleep conditioning, issues and ailments, and the care of a postpartum mother. The Newborn Care Training Academy course is not intended to train any student for a medical situation. Students are evaluated on the mastery of the intended learning outcome through an online assessment. Students who master the intended learning outcomes are awarded a certificate for completion of the program.

Haleigh began working as a nanny in 2002 before she became an Newborn Care Specialist in 2007. Haleigh founded Hush Little Baby, LLC, a newborn care company providing elite Newborn Specialists in the Washington DC area. Hush Little Baby now provides overnight care in 5 states and 24 Hour care across the country! While searching for staff to be apart of Hush Little Baby, Haleigh realized the shortage of newborn care education being offered to potential newborn professionals. Haleigh is an Advanced Certified Newborn Care Specialist, Certified Lactation Counselor, and DONA/ProDoula trained Postpartum Doula and Labor Doula. Haleigh joined with Brittany in 2013 to provide students interested in newborn care the opportunity for hands on and online learning through the Newborn Care Training Academy. Haleigh is excited to share her knowledge about newborn care with professionals across the world.

Brittany started working with newborns over 8 years before becoming a Newborn Care Specialist. She has also worked with toddlers and young children as a nanny for multiple families. After working as a Newborn Care Specialist, she noticed a severe deficit in quality training programs for the care of newborns and decided to partner with Haleigh to found the Newborn Care Training Academy. Brittany is a Certified Newborn Care Specialist, Certified Lactation Counselor, Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, and DONA trained Postpartum Doula. Educating others in the proper care of newborns is a strong passion for Brittany and it has long been an important part of the work she has done with new parents as a Newborn Care Specialist. She is excited to share her knowledge with those seeking to become a Newborn Care Specialist.

Courtney attended Howard University and worked as a nanny in the Washington, D.C. area for 8 years before becoming a Newborn Care Specialist. During her own postpartum period she recognized how having support can bring comfort to new families. She is a ProDoula certified postpartum doula and certified Our Baby Class teacher/mentor. Courtney has education in breastfeeding education and is one of our resident sleep guru’s!

Tamiko Kelly is a child sleep expert and has a passion for helping tired families feel like themselves again. Tamiko has taken that passion for families and turned it also into a catalyst for educating others in the Newborn Care Specialist field. Tamiko is a Texas native, who has also spent some time on the west coast (San Francisco)! She comes from a long line of entrepreneurs and has always had business in her genes. Tamiko has been working as an NCS for many years and is also a Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, West Coast Regional Director for the Association of Professional Sleep Consultants, Certified Happiest Baby Educator and Baby Sign Language educated.
