Course Overview

The online curriculum is available 24 hours a day on both computers and tablet devices. The online curriculum is comprised of 9 courses: The Newborn Care Specialist Profession, Full Term Newborn, Preemie Care, Managing Multiples, Feeding, Breastfeeding, Sleep and Sleep Training, Issues & Ailments, and The Postpartum Mother. Students will receive a 185 page manual.

Course Requirements

Students will have two weeks to complete each of the 9 courses. Students will have to read the manual, watch a PowerPoint, complete 3 worksheets, a quiz, and final exam. Students must achieve 90% or higher on the quiz and an 85% or higher as a cumulative grade to advance to the next course. Students must achieve a 85% or higher on the final exam to receive their certificate of completion. Students must be 18 years of age, attained a minimum of a high school diploma, and be proficient with reading and writing English. Students will also need to have a demo doll and the following swaddles (muslin blanket, miracle blanket, swaddle me and halo sleep sack) to demonstrate the ability to swaddle. Lastly, you will need the ability to Facetime or Skype for the swaddling demonstration. Further information on this component is detailed in the online course handbook you will receive upon entrance to the online course. Kits can be purchased through the Newborn Care Training Academy.

What to Expect

Within 24 hours of enrollment, students will receive log in information and the manual will be mailed using Priority Mail. Students may not submit any assignments prior to receiving the manual but they are free to look around the course and start the PowerPoint. The PowerPoint will take about an hour to complete and assignments will take 1-3 hours to complete. PowerPoints can be viewed on any computer or tablet device but student will need a computer to turn in assignments and take quizzes. This course is not designed to be solely completed on a tablet device.

*No refunds will be issued except at the sole discretion of the Newborn Care Training Academy. Refunds will not be issued in the event of a personal or family emergency, natural disaster, inclement weather, scheduling conflict, or any other life occurrences within or outside the control of the student. In the event a student is unable to attend the in-person workshop they registered for, any payments received by the Newborn Care Training Academy may be applied as credit toward a future workshop event or online course. If the student does not choose to apply credit from past payments towards a future workshop event or online course, the student agrees to forfeit their payment and hold blameless the Newborn Care Training Academy and its staff for any loss incurred by the student as a result. Cancellation of workshop events is at the sole discretion of the Newborn Care Training Academy. If the Newborn Care Training Academy cancels a workshop event due to lack of interest, each student will be issued a refund, in full, for the cancelled event. In lieu of a refund, students may choose to apply their refund as credit towards a future workshop event or online course but must contact the Newborn Care Training Academy within 24 hours of the cancellation of the workshop event.
