|Why are you passionate about newborn care?||
I believe a new baby’s arrival is one of the most vulnerable times for a family, especially to first time parents. It can be overwhelming and lack of sleep can exasperate any feelings of inadequacy parents may have. It can make all the difference to have an experienced carer on hand whether it’s just somebody to listen, show you how to burp your baby or simply to get a good nights rest.. As a Newborn Care Specialist I aim to help the family as a whole and get them on the right foot towards happy parenting.
|What is the greatest compliment you’ve ever received from a client?||
One of the greatest compliments I remember is being told my ” quiet, calm loving manner, installs confidence in parents and babies”. I was also recently told by parents of one of my infants that I cared for until kindergarten upon receiving his first report card “he thinks out of the box”. His parents attributed that to me..I’m taking it as a compliment lol!
|What do you enjoy about working with new families?||
Despite my many years working in this field I am always open to new ways of doing things. I love to meet new people and have learned lots about different cultures while living with families.
|Let’s talk newborns: what is your favorite part about caring for newborns?||
Purely selfish, but cuddles, holding a content infant is the most heart warming feeling, so good for the soul! I also love to watch as they meet milestones.
|What is next for you? Are you preparing for a new certification or training event?||
At this time I am currently working as a part time nanny and would like to stay with my family until my charge goes off to school.
I will be looking into taking a lactation counselor course and certainly would like to do my next level of NCS training.
|What is one fun fact about yourself?||
People are generally surprised to hear I am an Ice hockey fan, particularly the Boston Bruins. I am from the UK where Ice hockey is not at all popular.
