Why are you passionate about newborn care?
I am passionate about newborn care because I love being there at the beginning. You have this new life, so vulnerable and yet resilient, and it’s a honor to be present to parents in order to best help support and empower them.
What is the greatest compliment you’ve ever received from a client?
I have been called a “baby whisperer” and been told I bring a lot of peace and comfort to the home.
What do you enjoy about working with new families?
Every family is individual and I enjoy working with each new family because it provides a glimpse into the different family dynamics. Each family has a unique perspective and needs and I enjoy being able to seamlessly help support them.
Let’s talk newborns: what is your favorite part about caring for newborns?
I love their newness and their tiny little fingers and toes. I love watching them grow and learn to adjust and explore the world around them. I love watching their little personalities emerge.
What is next for you? Are you preparing for a new certification or training event?
I am always looking for advanced trainings or classes I can take to further my career. At the moment, I am planning on enrolling in a couple of the Fall courses offered by the NCTA, and plan on pursuing Postpartum Doula Certification next year.
What is one fun fact about yourself?
I am the second oldest of six children raised in Mississippi, but I’ve been told I don’t have much of an accent.
